    I coughed up blood

Hi! Of course you're scared, no wonder. Coughing up blood is also quite new to me, I think it happened the first time in 2009 after years of doing fine. (here I had moved back to humid climate, as when I was born, I'm wondering if that is affecting me so I moved back to dry) Anyway, doctors told...

    Junky cough

I recently heard about inhaling steam with lavender essential oil. It is actually very good to ease the coughing and helps release the mucus. The instructions are boiling 1 liter water (a quart) and once it cools down a minute, adding three drops of pure lavender oil. As long as you don't have...

    IV and work

Dear Gun, I have a portacath now and that enables me to have a "normal" life, prepare my medication myself, and do home treatment quite comfortably. Whether or not I am able to go out and have out-of-home activities depends on the antibiotic cycle they give me. Right now I am on Tobramicin 350...

    Not working, what to do?

I'd say it depends on your finances... If you have some source of income already, there's lots of volunteer activities and hobbies to pick up (plus of course, do some exercise! For joint pain, swimming would be good...). If you do need income, why not start a home based business? There's lots of...

    Enzymes and Malabsorption?

I've always adjusted my pills to the quality of stools. Hard = I've taken too many, reduce. Loose and oily and stomachache = I've taken too few. It also depends on how much fat the food contained. Loose and oily and stomachache and feeling hungry points towards needing to increase the pills. But...

What kind of school do/did you go to?

I have an unconventional story. I grew up in Mallorca, an island in Spain. There were many public and private schools to choose from (both national and international). <strong>The doctors told my mother I should attend a school with less than 10 pupils per class, in order to reduce infection...

IV time, again! First time with the port

I am also on home treatment now, with my port! I use 3M Tegaderm and similar: that usually lasts 2-3 days (I coordinate to wash my hair the day I'm planning on changing the sticker, on the other days I just take a short shower). When it starts peeling off, I just remove the plastic sticker...

    Career Path (HELP!!)

In the US school system, you have the great luck to be able to do your general education points the first year and decide your career along the way, even switch several times. So I think you're lucky! Careers often change a couple times in life, as your general desires in life changes, so don't...

PLEASE READ - I really need help

As for going to a CF specialist, for sure. But I live in Spain so I cannot give much advice. I have been on that boat of being fully resistant to everything - and recently I cultured Achromobacter Xyloxidans (which I had never heard of before - but it went away). When you're fully resistant...

    Diagnosed as an adult

My father has always had a few symptoms (low tolerance to heat/sun exposure suggests high saline sweat, non-proper digestion, mild respiratory issues) but he was tested carrier, "carrier with symptoms" they said in the early 20s. My aunt (father's side) has had a couple respiratory symptoms but...
