    Any Homeschooling/cyberschool parents with cf?

Hi, I'm wondering if there's any parents with Cf, doing school at home with their kids? We are strongly considering cyber due to the consistent routine and teacher support. Any tips on how you manage it all, and still maintain balance, downtime, etc, would be helpful. Also, during your doctor...

    Mold in my bathroom...

As others said mold is serious for Cfers. And when its caught early you can get rid of it, but I've found only if you use bleach. But, bleach also sends me into bronchospasm. So its for this reason that I now have someone come in to clean my bathrooms for me. The products that kill mold are not...

    Asthma doctors

You said it! Thats it. Its very hard to pinpoint exact causes. Thank you for the tip, I will look into them.

    Asthma doctors

Thats not necessarily true. Cf doctors are mainly looking at infection due to Cf issues. For people with unusually debilitating asthma, finding a good immunologist can be important. They look into the underlying causes of allergy and asthma, which may or may not be related to classic Cf...

Marathon: Is it healthy or not?

Aww thank you! Word gets around...Yes I ran my heart out, all 13 miles. It was wonderful and empowering. Trained for 5 months and did the impossible. Having the support of my hubby and family made it happen. And dedicating it to my 2 babies, and my big brother kept me going. :o

Severe asthma causing more trouble than typical exacerbations

I started Duoneb last night. My infection symptoms post flu have basically stopped at this point. But the extreme asthma needs to snap out of it. I remembered the last time I was in the hospital, with this same scenario, I dc'd albuterol and they put me on Duoneb 4 times a day. So perhaps that...

Severe asthma causing more trouble than typical exacerbations

I'm wondering if anyone else can relate to this and provide some insight. Over the past few years, I get an asthma response to most infections and viruses that ends up causing more trouble than the infections themselves. I guess it's a question of which came first, chicken or egg? My non cf...

    Burkholderia

I have cultured b. cepacia for 18 years. To date, it has not affected my cf. it can vary patient to patient, and depends on the strain you culture. There is much misinformation regarding b. cepacia in the cf community. Best to get all the facts from your cf care team, and go from there.

    Bleeding on Cayston

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced mild hemoptysis (bleeding) while on cayston. Do you just deal with it? Did your doctor determine that it should be stopped? Any theory as to why it causes bleeding? i seem to always have some type of streaking associated with cayston. Is it just...

Trying to get over the flu, need some advice.

I'm on my second round with the flu this season. The first time, in early fall, it turned into pneumonia within 48 hrs and I was hospitalized for a week. My fev1 went down to 53% at its lowest from baseline of 72-75%. This time, I have a much milder case thankfully. The biggest thing that is...

What Do You Do When You Forget Enzymes?

I take them later anyway to salvage whatever I can. For the pain, there is nothing that works to stop it. Just waiting another day till its over. For the most part, I never ever forget to take them. Once in a blue moon I forget them if I'm eating out or something but thats it. Learned when I was...

The Best Exercise to Raise PFT scores

Actually if I'm starting to feel run down, thats the time I want to run even more. Nothing clears it out better than running. I just stay extra hydrated and bring lots of tissues. If I felt I was contagious though of course I'd avoid others. And if I feel too sick to do something, that means I...

    Alternative diet...anyone?

I have been off dairy for 3 months now and I feel an improvement. Its not that hard for me to avoid it either-gradually switched over to soy and almond milk, slowly weaned myself. The only thing that is hard for me is my coffee and at times I will put a splash (and only a splash) of milk in...

Anyone with CF participating in Cross Fit?

I know someone with Cf that participates in Cross Fit and she loves it. I don't see how any of those exercises would be harmful as long as you gradually build up your stamina and pace yourself. If you find something you really like doing, go with it! Any exercise is good exercise. Have fun!

    Brown blood

Yes, The times I've had hemoptysis, a few days post episode and up to a week post, is when I will have more brownish blood than red. I agree its old and remnants of an episode. The other thing I consider is the consistency. If mine is thicker, it may be mixed with mucus that is also brownish, so...
