    Pulmozyme

Well, if it has time to work on that mucus and break it down overnight, then in my thinking it should be easier to get whatever builds up while she sleeps up and out the next morning with airway clearance. Emily does hypersal with her am treatment, so hopefully the 2 (hypersal and pulmozyme)...

    Pulmozyme

I spent some time talking about nebs, etc with Emily's dr while she was inpatient last week. They recommended Pulmozyme before bed if possible, since it's a long-acting tx and will have a chance to work on the mucus deep in the lung that way.

    How...?!? This is really overwhelming.

It did infuse in the hospital with the syringe/pump faster than it is at home. The eclipse balls seem to take longer. eta> she is getting 1,500mg of the ceftazidine and 105mg of tobra~ they had to nudge that one up over the typical dose for weight to get her levels right.

    First Culture of Staph

There are the ongoing Isis trials for little ones, and of course a lot of formal data for teens/adults, but little real data for school-age kids and hypersal. So when starting it, Emily's dr presented to me our 'clinic report' for those who use it. Average increase in fev1 doesn't sound...

    First Culture of Staph

Our team did not make any claims to it resulting in Emily having clean cultures... but rather that it reduces the exacerbations that result in needing abx and result in reduced lung function over time. So even if your child continues to culture staph, don't be discouraged and feel like the HTS...

    How...?!? This is really overwhelming.

Our nurse recommended the Press-n-Seal as well... we were told no baths for Emily but showers were fine, and that the Press-n-Seal worked as well as taping something over it to keep it dry. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

    First Culture of Staph

It's interesting, Catherine. I was talking to two of her drs about it (hypersal)- and both said out of anything they suggest, it's the tx that parents are the most resistant to even *try* for their children!! That's unfortunate.
