11 Months old

Hi everyone,
Haven`t posted for a while hope everyone is doing well. Got a few
questions for everyone. Benjamin is almost 11 months old and is up
nearly 3 to 4 times a night. I have noticed early in the night has
alot a wind and poos around twice a night and needs to be changed.
He is quite easy to settle but its just the constant getting up
that is bothering me. I don`t know if it`s a comfort thing or he
has tummy pain. He is still on formulae and three meals a day
including snacks. He mainly eats fruit and veggies, weetbix with 1
tablespoon of cream and butter added to his veggies. He also has
yogurt about once a day. Just wondering if it`s anything I am
feeding him is the problem or just playin on us a bit. I also know
he is teething at the moment but has been up this much for a few
months now. Any ideas would be great. Just very tired and wondering
how I can fix it. Did any other mums have this problem? He is also
on enzymes.
HI Donna, my daughter is now 19months but at about 8months she was doing the same thing. I know with her she had a tummy upset until she did a poo and/or pass wind.

She too was easy to settle. I also found that the amount of enzymes were not enough and things did get better once we adjusted them. Have a look at his oos, and if they look oily, fatty, or even loose than maybe try to adust his enzymes.

It also could be the yogurt, i waited a little longer before i put Olivia on yogurt. Although i did give her the one n the baby jars, which was from 6months up.

I know its hard, but hang in there it willl just get easier.

My boy was like that. He's now 3 and still wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes from dreams or gas or whatever but at least now he takes care of himself and goes back to sleep. At the 11month age he was often up during the night for a diaper change but went back to sleep right away. My spouse and I divided the night so that one of us had to get up if it was before 3am and the other after 3am; the "after 3am" person got to go to bed early to get 5 or 6 hours before having to get up. Getting the enzymes right was a constant battle at that age because his feeding habits changed constantly as he grew, teethed, etc.

good luck.

Same here...Zoe is 27 months old now and still gets up some during
the night. It has been that way since she was born. Now that she is
able to talk, she tells me "my tummy hurts". Sometimes
she will pass some gas, then go back to sleep. I think it is
something that we just have to deal with, with a lot of patience
& coffee!
It is tough though, hang in there, hopefully as they get older it
will get better.
Could be teething, could be dreaming that's waking him up. I know sometimes DS would have some wild dreams and would wake up crying. Maybe he needs more enzymes. Some people do say that teething can cause looser stools too..

We had more of an issue this past year in which DS would wake up and wouldn't want to go back in his crib and so we could get some sleep --- we put him in our bad. Something we swore we'd never do! FINALLY got him out of our bed this past spring and into a big boy bed.

11 months is a big development time (either starting to try to walk or new walker, eating more table food, taking in the world around them in new ways, ect. Throw in teething and new diet and waking is bond to happen. I sleep with my son (even still at 2) so it helped to not have to wake up and have so many sleep disturbances. My daugher did the crib thing and had much more "night mares" and sleep disturbances during these developmental bursts. My son never wakes up (well maybe 2x) since he weaned and I think it is because he has always slept with me. I just figure at some point he will want to be in his sister's room and then they can kick and soothe each other. You could try it and see if it helps. You may get more sleep and just knowing you're there, he may to. I know it isn't for everyone (even me some nights ;-)

It may take him a while to adjust to the dairy and new foods. I think I also had to play with enzymes as I added more soy and food to his diet. Ben's stools were always off when he was teething and I swear he was more acidic (burpy/farting). Once the tooth would pop, it would all go away. He just got his eye teeth and his stools were off.

Don't know if this helps but here you have it. Jody

Thanks everyone that makes me feel better. Ben has always had
digestive issues and I do think that maybe it`s the dairy. I might
take him off it a bit longer to he is a bit older. I thought I had
the enzymes right but maybe not god those things stress me out.
Have tried him in our bed doesn`t like it damn. Anyway some how we
all cope will just take 1 day at a time. I know that some teeth are
also coming through so will wait and see what happens. Better go to
bed then get some sleep. Thanks again everyone for your input
Then it's most likely the teeth - -can remember some nasty diapers and then DS would have a new tooth and his diapers wouldn't be as bad. BTW, DS eats and drinks a LOT of dairy, but I was remarking to DH last night "remember when we used to wonder if he'd EVER have normal poo. Wondered what normal poo for a cfer was". Since he's been potty trained, ds has pretty much had normal stools. Figure the adjustment from formula to whole milk (with cream) and then figuring out his enzymes --- he's finally fairly normal. Didn't think that would EVER be the case.

Could it be just a case of reflux? It would get worse when laying
down. Plus, just wanted to let you know, my kid just got a lot of
his first molars. They never seemed to bother him too much, except
he would chew on things (his fingers, a toy, the arm of the rocking
chair!) But they came in very slowly and he did wake up in the
middle of the night more often (like almost every night instead of
about the usual once a week)
