13 weeks - Ultrasound pictures

Hi everyone. I met with the perinatologist today and her tech scanned me (First tech does the scan then the doc comes in, does a quick scan for herself and then the consult). I guess the plan will be the same as last time - I'll go every 6 weeks for a growth scan. I will be followed by my regular OB and he'll just get the u/s reports. I thought about it and feel OK with it since I like having the connection the peri since my asthma tends to get really bad during pregnancy and my CF docs are over 3 hours away. I can't just call in the morning and be seen that same day. Its a HUGE ordeal to get there - involving a 4-5 hour train ride with a toddler, at least 1 night stay, etc...

So anyway, they said everything looked great with baby. S/he measured 13 weeks 1 day so just fine. 7 cm from crown to rump - good heartbeat (153 bpm), has a brain, spine, is swallowing fluid, etc. I declined the genetic screening but she said that the nuchal fold looked fine even though she knows I am declining. They said they could probably tell the sex for me but we said no thanks. I know my doc looked and knows what it is but she said she'll keep her mouth shut.

The cool part was that I asked if they have 3D now - they didn't when I went there 3 years ago for Logan's pregnancy. They have new machines now that have 3d. She said she could switch it over for me to see if I want but warned they look very strange. It was the coolest thing to see in 3D/4D! Josh was amazed. Baby did look a little odd at times since its still so early but it definately looked like a baby. I got about 10 u/s pictures but I only scanned the 3D ones since the others are a bit hard to decipher except the 1 profile shot. Baby just didn't want to cooperate - kept moving opposite of what the tech wanted. The tech also told me I can bring a DVD RW to my appointments and she'll record everything for me.

Here are the 3D pictures:

Very cool! I can't believe they knew the sex already. I thought the sex didn't appear for a couple more weeks (like 15 weeks gest). I'm pretty sure my u/s was too early to determine the sex. I'll just have to patiently wait until mid-March to find out. Glad everything went well. S/he looks beautiful <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

That is so cool! I had no idea they could tell the sex so early. My next appt is at 12 weeks, so I'm sure I'll be just a little too early for them to see and have to wait another month. Oh well!

A skilled tech should be able to tell - they said I was about as early as they're willing to look. We found out Logan was a boy FOR SURE at 14 weeks. There was no doubt at all. Same tech/doctor - and you know she's a skilled tech if she's working directly w/ the perinatologist.
