My oldest daughter, Lauren, got her learner's permit to drive today! She is SOOOO excited. I let her drive home and thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown!

She did very well........mom didn't........lol

Sometimes it is SOOO hard to let them grow up!! You just want them to curl up in your lap and call you mommy again!!!! I sure miss those days sometimes!

It's ok Seana, I don't think Mom (or dad) does very well for the first 1000 times in the car with a learner OR a new driver. I remember my mom and I almost murdering eachother... too many ooohhh's and ahhhh' and jumpy sounds. I nearly hit about 10 people simply because her noises were scaring the crap out of me .

It's much better now, she still does her ohh's and ahh's but Im a better driver and just ignore her

Yeahhh Lauren, no lectures here. You seem responsible and seem like you have a level head so just keep that in mind. Good LUCK!!!!!!!!!

Seana,

You were so good about letting her drive home! wow
Its next year for my son- I don't think I can stand it! Of course, its another one of those "milestones" for my cf/son so I'll probably cry through it.

Julie- my mom and I almost killed each other too. One time my mom was so upset, she made me pull over. Then she told me to get out and walk home. I still think I'm a much better driver than she is.

I used to have to close my eyes and pretend to sleep when my stepson drove.
Obviously, I was not allowed to be "adult onboard" until the last month of his learner's permit.

Jane and Lisa, I don't know why but your posts are so funny. I am just cracking up.

Jane, I think I'm a better drive than my mom too. She slams on her brakes for anything, nearly sending everyone in the car through the window. She keeps a distance of like 6 car lengths in front of her and then gets so mad when someone merges over (not cuts her off but merges over). I've just learned to ride and laugh (and pray ). And to top it off, she got a new car a few years ago and decided she liked driving a stick in college (um, that was how many decades ago ???) and got a stick this time. Oh boy.... I think women in my family just shoudn't drive sticks. I stay away from them. I've been taught a million times but I just can't seem to get it. No thanks. She on the other hand thinks she's great at it. Gotta love her though, she is my mom
