As a parent of a child with CF I naturally grab a hold of any literature I can get my hands on relating to CF. When I see a program that mentions CF I record in on our DVR, and insist that it not be deleted. This summer our local news had a "Health Minute" and it was about laser teeth whitening. The man trying out the laser treatments was a man in his 60's. That man also had Cystic Fibrosis. I loved that two minutes of TV, because for two minutes CF didn't look so scary.
Well, today I got a new face in "Our Little World" to put with CF. I recently joined my sons PTA. Call me crazy my sons only 3, but I always think it's important to pay it forward. In our little world people do so much for him, and I like to give back where I can. That said....Today I was dropping of my 3 dozen cupcakes for "Monster Mash" tonight. I explained to the PTA President that I was sorry that I had missed last weeks meeting, and made a comment about how scary colds can be in our house because Johnny has CF. She was in amazement they had just had a discussion about my son this week. They had no idea I was his Mom. I thought that's weird...Why are you discussing my son. She went on tell me that the other lady that I had sat with weeks before also had CYSTIC FIBROSIS! My heart stopped I think I said a bad word...I thinking "Your f'ing kidding me". I had just waved hi to that same woman minutes before in the parking lot...there was no way that bouncy little blonde had cf. She said "YEP". I asked her to get her........So, in front of the school today I cried and another mom with CF hugged me. I can't express how amazing this is to me. I guess it is soooo true when you give you get so much more back in return.
I just had to share.......
