Hi,
Just wondering if there was anyone going to the 2008 National CF conference that is being held in Orlando, FL at the end of October...

Here's the link
www.nacfconference.org/documents/Nacfprelimprogram.pdf

It looks so neat... LOTS of learning opportunities.

I am considering going, but unsure yet...

Thanks, Jenn

My husband will be there, he is giving a short talk on his research on modifier genes and phenotype of his CF mouse. He is a scientist. I will not be there though.

Oh is he doing an abstract on the genetic modifiers of phenotypic severity in the Beta ENaC mouse model of CF? I always am awed by how intelligent these researchers are!!

Did he have interest in this prior to your daughter with CF? If so, wow, what a weird coincidence!

There are too many things to go see that overlap in time.

That's him. He was in grad school when I was pregnant with Maggie; his research was cancer related at the time. He went into mouse genetics for his post doctoral work; which he was able to learn how to"knock out" genes in mice. When he finished his postdoc, his job had the ability to work on CF mice(where he works they needed someone to get this project going). He got a small grant from the CFF and there ya go. That's the very short version. Maggie's CF diagnosis had most everything to do with him changing his field; though he still does other things; with congenital birth defects, knock out mice, embryonic stem cells in mice. He is a quick learner, very smart, course I'm biased. Anyway, he's new to CF research, looking foward to the meeting.
