2010 NYC Marathon...less than a year post TX

Hi everyone,

As some of you may know, I am going to be running in the 2010 NYC Marathon along with my surgeon from Columbia, Dr. Sonett less than a year out from my TX.

I am running this race to raise awareness for CF and organ donation.

I am in the process of trying to get the word out for my cause. I'm lucky to know people from the NY Times, 60 minutes, and the CBS evening news. A company also plans on making noisemakers for the spectators which will have my story on it to showcase NY Presbyterian Medical Center Columbia University. If just one of these things happens, it can do a lot to raise awareness for our cause.

If anyone knows of any other ways to get the word out--to celebrate what the potential is for someone less than a year out from a double lung TX with CF, this message needs to reach everyone.

I am very passionate about raising awareness--so much so, that I'm going to voluntarily sacrifice my body on Nov. 7th. I'm ready to run, but no one thought it was possible...and truth be told, even my docs are shocked that I'm ready. I want that shock factor to help our cause.

Thanks, everyone.
Tim

Are you running with Team Boomer? I'm also running the NYC Marathon next month, my first one with Team Boomer, it's a team of 120 individuals all raising awareness of CF & money for The Boomer Esiason Foundation. They do a lot of work to get publicity for the cause. Congratulations on this great accomplishment. I know how strenuous the training is, but crossing that finish line will feel amazing!

I'm not running with team Boomer. My surgeon got me my number (he has a lot of pull, I'm guessing <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> )

I would love to meet Boomer, however, and thank him for all he's done. Also, to let him know that's it's ok to have lost to Joe Montana.
