How long to wait - second baby - IVF

well, Amelia must be a good baby if you are already thinking this!
its not crazy, a week after having my daughter I was planning the next one and couldnt wait to do it again. I still am.
my 2 cents worth-
my doctor said she tells her cf mommies that they have a year to fully recover their lung function and health after delivery. depending on how smooth that year goes and how you respond to treatment will say wether or not u can do it again and how soon. I'd like to get preg next summer-august or later. then my kids would be 2 yr apart exactly.
i'm approaching it with an open mind though. I have my plans-but if I have a hard winter or am not back where I was pre-preg, I'll postpone it till I am.
I think you are looking at it practically-you want to be able to do it, and this seems like the way. I'd just say if your health isn't tip top in June-insurance or no insurance-wait till you are healthy enough. No amount of savings or insurance is worth Amelia not having her mama here taking care of her and being laid up in the hosp or worse. I'm sure you know that but sometimes hearing it helps us.

I have read a few articles online (because everything online is the truth of course! LOL!) and the consensus seems to be wait 18 month between pregnancies if you had a c-section. The reasons I've found are uterine scarring and overall mother's health and ability to provide adequate nutrition to the fetus.

So in the end I have no advice. I would take your case to your reproductive endocrinologist for a consultation. Sometimes it takes weeks to get into an office like that, so you could always make your appointment anytime to just gather information.

Good luck. It's fortunate you found an HMO with IVF coverage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't COBRA last up to 18 months? So technically, you have two years from now to do the IVF, right? And who's to say your DH's next contract won't have IVF coverage as well? Just a thought.
