How long does it take for HillRom to file with the Insurance Company? We've been using the vest since November and they haven't file yet as far as we can tell. Is that common? Should I be concerned? I wish they file it now that we have insurance. Why is takins so long? Has anyone been through this?

It takes a while -- like 6 months -- for hill-rom to negotiate with the insurance company. At least that was how it worked for us. About 6 months in, I received our first Explanation of Benefits that included a payment to Hill-rom. They broke it into 18 monthly payments. And just recently it was paid off completely (YAY)!!

It takes a while as they negotiate BEFORE they bill.

That way if the INS will pay in full, they bill the $$$$$ and get paid. Otherwise, they might bill in monthly payments to get paid.

If they bill for purchase first and get denied, it is then harder to cheat the system and call it a rental.
