A Chance to Bless Two Cfers

Hi Guys,


I just wanted to let you know just incase you didn't know that we have two Cfers on this board that I know of, that could really use are help.

One is Liz, (read her blog ) she is starting her life over again and is need of some practical things. For us who live in the states, sending the stuff out of the country will be really expensive... Liz told us in chat last night that they have a WallMart there. Maybe we can get a few Cards together and have them mailed to her. Even if you had $5.00 to spare I am sure it would make a big difference in her life....


Second is Mark and Julie, as we all know Julie is having three babies. Mark (the one with CF) is still finishing up some college classes this summer so he isn't working full time yet... Even if he was working full time, three babies is quite the expense. I only know how much is cost to have one baby, my god daughter is 5 months old, I have bought almost all her diapers since she was born and I have spent hundreds of dollors already... that is just for one baby....


Julie and Mark are registered at Babies r Us, again I don't think it is really to practical to try to send them something unless you want to, but maybe a gift card from there or any store baby related would be such a blessing to them.

I have to say for me, I try to bless people as often as I can, it is always, always, always for me better to give then to recieve. I always feel so good that I was able to help make a difference in the life of someone.... how much more someone with CF.

Really it only takes a few minutes to google a store online and go to gift cards and purchase one. Most of us feel like this website is a family within a family and so it is wonderful that we have a chance to help a fellow member out. Please don't feel like you have to, only if you want.... I just thought I would let you know what was going on.


I hope we are able to bless Liz, Julie and Marks socks off.....

Here is what I found on the Walmart website regarding gift cards. I am trying to work out how to buy Canadian cards, but do not send card bought in the US to Canada, they won't work (for Walmart anyway)
"Q. Do Canadian shopping cards work in the U.S.?
A. No, they have a different system set-up and the registers in U.S. stores are not able to read our Canadian cards. Please note that U.S. cards do not work in Canada."


If anyone from the US figures out how to order Canadian gift cards from someplace Liz can use, please post the info for me! I went to the Sears.CA site and found a way to order cards....right up until the purchaser had to have a Canadian address to complete the transaction <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Can we get a mailing address for Liz or can we send it to you or whoever wants to be "in charge", they can collect it and then mail it off to her (if she doesn't want to publically share her address)??? I was thinking of maybe sending some cash, not a lot but if everyone who frequents the site did $5 or $10 it would add up really fast.

hmmmmmmmmmmm, thinking on this one.

To piggy back on what Julie just mentioned....what if someone was a central person that we could send contributions to & that person could then go to their bank & get the money converted over to Canidian & maybe send a certified check, money order or something to Liz???

Guys you are so great! THis really means a lot to me! If certificates don't work for any of you, a money order would be the best option for me. When it comes to assistance, they watch my banking like a hawk, but don't really worry about money orders. Thank you again so much!

I have a target, a Safeway grocery store (it's called Vons in some place but the giftcards are interchangeable), a babiesRus, a USA baby, Costco (not sure if they have gift cards)..... Thanks Blake


Liz, where do we send the money order to? I've never sent one before so I'm not sure if I just say where you live or what? Does anyone else know how it works???

Money orders can either be sent via Western Union I believe, or you can go to your bank and get one and simply mail it to me. You['ll have to check with your bank though on how they do it from the US to Canada. We don't have a Target here, but we have a Walmart, a Safeway, Costco, etc. I made a list of stores on my last blog if that helps. Anyone sending gift cards will have to look into whether cards from the US can be spent in Canada. Thanks again guys!
