A few days ago I found an envelope with all of my father's information on the road races he did in the 80's. My dad passed away 11 years ago when I was 21. But what's really cool is that now I have all his times, distances, etc.
Now that I'm in this post TX world, I plan on doing a lot of running ala Forrest Gump style. I haven't been able to run effortlessly in 20 years. And I've literally had dreams of running, feeling the wind in my face, watching the landscape slowly pass by. Early morning runs when it's still quiet outside, or late night runs when everyone is home relaxing. I can't wait to do it again.
And now, 11 years after my dad passed away, I have his numbers. He was a great runner, triathlons, half marathons, fun runs...and I don't intend on competing per se...but rather, I'll feel like I"m running along side him....just like we did when I was 12 years old.
Sometimes I sit back and wonder why I have been so blessed.
