Ok Im back from my appointment and have some really good news to tell. First Id like to announce that my pfts went up again 10% now they are 82% last time was 73% doc was happy about that, but this time I done my second treatment before gong to see the doc so I dont know if that had anything to do with bringing the pfts up a little more, maybe it did, not sure, but happy anyways. I asked my doc if he done his homework for the Origano Oil, and he didnt, infact he cant find the papers I gave him to read, so now i have to search for the stuff again and give it back to him. arghhh, I was hoping to be able to take it and then have even higher pfts the next time, but oh well I guess Ill have to wait some more, oh yeah I gave him an F for his homework and he just laughed, he thought it was funny. My weight is the same 123 and 2oz didnt gain or lose so that is a plus that it stayed the same very pleased with that weight by the way. My doc said that my lungs are clear my exam was perfect except my left nose is a little swollen so he said I need to do my sinus rinse twice a day instead of once a day (ive been too lazy to do it twice a day, but for him Ill try and get back into that habit) he said other than that I was perfect. It was a great appointment, I figured it would of been, cause Ive been feeling great. He also said that it was very good of me to take control and stay on top of my cf, and I couldnt agree more. That pretty much sums up my appointment. chow

Wow! Way to go with those PFT's! What was the time inbetween pft's? Glad to hear things are going well! What kind of sinse rinse do you do? I'm suppose to be doing that too.

the pfts were 2months apart, plus I was out of pulmozyme when I done my pfts 2months ago, so I was back on pulmozyme this time, I think that helped also. Neil Med is the sinus rinse i use, its worth using, you'd be amazed, I was when I first started using it. It comes with a bottle and a nose lid thingy.

i really hate to be the party pooper here but if you're waiting on your doc to research the OO and then give you the green light with a great big smile at your next appointment, then i'm affraid you might be waiting quite a while... while he may be a stand up doc and actually do the research (that would be great)...i doubt he will do it... but even if he did, i don't think he would be all "yeah, i would recommend you at least try it" for the simple reason that if he did say that and you (God forbid) got sick while on the OO.. he would be in huge trouble for recommending something that was not approved by the FDA and other important figures...

great to hear you are doing well and i hope you continue to do so... it sounds to me like you area bright girl who "gets an A for her homework"...<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

you'll do fine with or without a doc recomendation...

Jennifer,

great news on the PFT's, I know you must be ecstatic! Of course, you know my overall feeling on the oregano oil. Especially now that your FEV1 looks so good I would leave well enough alone. I wouldn't risk the great strides you have made in the last months on an unproven therapy.

Yeah what Royal Prince said. The chances of him giving you the ok to neb OO is as likely as you walking outside and seeing King Kong in your front yard fighting with a T-Rex. I had to take the initiative/chance myself, and only after how he saw how I was doing, and asked what I have been doing different, did he basically give me the nob to "Keep on doing whatever it is I have been doing". I am still a great believer in the substance, and i'm still doing amazing on the substance. It has allowed me to fully go back to work, and work harder and longer (walking atleast 8-9 miles a shift) than I have ever been able to do in my entire life, with as close to zero symptoms of CF showing. My only problem now is (and it's not related to OO), is the sinuses in the back right of my head (right above my neck) are giving me problems, and i'm battling them with ibuprofen, and NAC, rhinocort, and zyrtec. Seems the rhinocort has the strongest positive impact on it. After every shift (atleast 8 hours of busting my hiney hole), I get a headache back in that area. I could be more proactive sinus wise and do real rinses and stuff, but it's hard because i want to go to bed and I have zero congestion evident in my sinuses, it's just that damn headache that pops up here and there after work or sometimes when i'm drinking.

Anyways, back on topic. Just do your own research, keep an ear open to what doc has to say, but don't look forward to the green light from him or anything positive. If after all the research you do, if you still choose to give it a trial period of a month of nebbing the water soluble stuff (I recommend giving it atleast a month of a real chance), and you start to feel much better, look at it like you have found a real nice supplement to help greatly ease your CF symptoms. So far, judging by what others have reported, and that most are still using it in various forms, it has a much higher chance of helping you rather than harming you.

Remember, the strength of OO isn't just in it's antimicrobial properties, it's also in it's EXTREMELY powerful antiinflamatory properties, so that helps us massively as well.

I thought the Oregano Oil was FDA approved?

nope, herbals aren't monitored at all by the FDA. That is why taking supplements is risky, there isn't an agency that really checks to see what is in the stuff(purity, concentration, etc).
