A few IVF questions

Hi there,

Some of you may know already that I have been trying to conceive for over 3 years without much success.
Yesterday my test results - HSG, blood tests, ultra sound etc came back as all normal, but the result my fertility specialist gave me was not easy and kinda frustrating to hear.
she said that all my tests came back fine and has come to the conclusion that my case is an 'unexplained infertility issue' She has suggested that we go straight to having IVF treatment. But I am a little uncertain about how this will affect my body, as I am so loaded up with medications for my c.f already. Another concern is that I have also been reading all the info on IVF and there are a lot of side effects that sound pretty nasty.

So the reason i'm posting is not just to update everyone on here, but to ask a few questions.

How many c.f women have gone through the IVF process?

How many side effects did you experience?

And was IVF successful or did you have to attempt IVF more than once?

But we are not really certain of IVF at this stage although we are planning on doing IUI in the future.

Would really appreciate any advice on this subject,
thanks

Did she say why she wanted to jump straight to IVF? What about trying IUI? I know we are trying IUI first and then see what the future holds. I am just like you, all my blood work is great, husbands sample is excellent and we have been trying for a little over 3 years also. We just did our IUI this week. Our doc suggested that we do three IUI's and then meet back and talk and look and see what we should do next if that doesnt work.

IVF is so expensive and invasive, I would bring up IUI and talk to her about that and what she feels that could do for you.

Hi Alisha,

Apologies for not getting back to you sooner, life has just been super busy of late.

The reason our fertility specialist suggested going straight to IVF was b/c she didn't want us to wait too long on the 'public waiting list' as she said it could take up to a year or longer and had voiced her concern about not leaving it too late with having C.F, just in case my health got worse. Funny thing is that I would have never known about IUI if it hadn't been for this site lol and I did mention to her about the IUI at my last clinic visit even before posting anything on this site.
Bugt I think the reason she was "lets cut to the chase" was b/c of the financial expense under going IUI, then if that didn't work trying IVF. But I'm with you on the IVF thing, it's much to invasive for me and realistically I don't think I could commit to all the stuff I have read about it! But I guess why I posted here, was b/c I was curious to hear if any others had gone through the IVF process. B/c maybe they may have been able to give some advice on how it went for them.
Anyway, thanks for replying to my post, it means a lot to me that I'm not the only facing this problem.

Another myth...okay maybe a question, I have about fertility is that, Can having re a curing Thursh be a benefactor in not being able to conceive?
Just thought I'd pop that in while I was on here <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
