ok so i've been off iv's for two weeks now. so i decided to start doing my vest every day since i don't do it like i'm supposed too...i normally use it every once in a while. well since i started doing it every day i've gotten a cough (after iv's i didn't have a cough at all which i was in love with <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">). it's not a bad cough, just a little annoying cause it's only every now and then. and it's a dry cough...it makes my throat dry. anyways here is what i am on enzymes, pulmozyme, advair, azithromax, zyrtec, prenatal viatmins, and cacluim and magasium. are there any antibiotics that we are allowed to take? i don't tolerate tobi, so that's outta the question. i culture PA, which i have for as long as i can remember. i'm a little mad cause i was feeling great and now getting a little bit of a cough really makes me irrate because i am wanting to fly home in two months and i know if i'm not healthy enough the doctors won't let me go. does anyone know anything i can do? any advice?

A dry cough doesn't usually indicate an infection. You didn't mention if you take albuterol or not. The cough could be asthma related - have you ever tried using an inhaler to see if it helps your cough? Just a thought. When are you coughing? Is it pretty soon after using the vest? If so I'd venture to guess the vest may be causing a slight asthmatic reaction and you could benefit from doing albtuerol (either inhaler or nebulizer) before doing the vest. It is what I do. I also take advair and spiriva for my asthma.

I agree with Caroline about using albuterol before your vest. Also, your uterus should be moving upward and taking up more space, which will put pressure on your lungs. I was feeling it at about 5 months but it didn't get to be a problem until the last month. My bone structure is small (short torso, slim hips) and I was carrying a big baby so maybe you won't experience it. Albuterol did help with that though.
