a question for the ladies

Okay,
So i am a 20/f w/cf. I just had a question on puberty!!? I have not yet gone through puberty all the way. I am not sure what to do. I get my period every once in a while, i have pubic hair but my breasts have not changed at all. no breast buds or nothing... It is kind of embarassing and I was just wondering if any of you guys can help me out on this...? Anything would be great! Thanx.....

I have to admit that your age shocked me considering your problem. Have you been to a GYN ever? How progressed is your CF? I was a late bloomer compared to my Non CF friends, but was still through it all by age 15. I have heard of women (not just CFers) needing hormonal help to push them the rest of the way through puberty. I would think if your body isnt fully developed (you cant go by boobs because my Mom is large breasted, but my sister & I are small in comparison) that it should be checked out soon!

I would certainly go to a GYN soon. Have you talked to your CF doctor or the clinic nurse about this to see what they think? Good luck.

my menstruation never was a problem, but i also didn`t have so much breast till i was 19 - then suddenly they grew a lot bigger and i also gained much weight around the hips...maybe it takes a little longer sometimes...it can also depend on your body weight---
but i think seeing the gyn is a good idea anyway, not just for this, but it is important anyway to do that one time a year...check if everything is ok....

I was the same way. Still am!! Im 23 now and when i was 17 i started going to a GYN to see what was up. Apparently my problem was my CF liver disease. I wasnt producing enough of my own estrogen because my liver wasnt working well and holding it. I was put on birth control to start my periods! Unfortunatly as my liver disease progressed I had to have them stopped because I was severly anemic and my liver was getting a build up and now not filtering the estrogen out. Since I havent had my period and i have no breasts and often have symptoms of menopause because my body has no estrogen! Because Im on the xplant list for a new liver as well as lungs i cannot take anything at this time for it but after xplant when my body is healthier it may start back on its own.
Im not saying you have what i do but there could be an underlining problem like low estrogen levels that can easily be treated. So go see a GYN or get a recommendation from your GP if you have one. Its worth it to see whats going on and you should see one anyway if you are sexually active.

well i didn't hit puberty until i was 17, i got my first period then and couple months later i got my breasts and my periods r still not always normal..sometimes i have one for 5 days sometimes 2...i even go a month r two with out one...i went to the womens doctor and he put me on birth control and its made my period pretty normal..that might help,maybe u should do that.plus the birth control might help with the development ..trust me u will be shock soon they will come out of no where...that is what happen to me...

Thanx to all who wrote to me! My lungs are about 37%, I have had problems with my kidneys and im not sure about my liver, actually i have cfrd. So maybe all of that plays a role... I am just so frusterated!! I would really like to develope! I dont want huge ones but gees!!! Some would be nice! I have been on birth control before and my mom told me that my boobs would grow but they never did! I am not sure what to do I guess I should go and see a doc... Can i take estrogen pills or something? Is that what makes them grow? I am not to well educated on that type of stuff!!! Okay thanx again for everyones help...
