The 4 periods a year pill is Seasonale.
While I don't know about any of the issues of CF/bc pill/periods...
My experience with Seasonale has been wonderful. I get absolutely horrible cramps - and having them 4 times a year instead of 13 is a miracle. I haven't had any of the break-through bleeding (btb) issues and I've been on it for a year. It's rather high-dose, so if you have issues with hormones, it's probably not the way to go.
Previous to Seasonale, I was on Ortho-Tri-Cyclen Lo, which I could take back to back for two packs without btb. After that, I was on Trivora (Enpresse) which is a little stronger, and I could do three packs in a row without btb (even though most people have issues taking a triphasic pill back to back).
Seasonale is a monophasic pill that has the same ingredients as Levora and Nordette - it's just an extended dosing cycle.
