abdominal bloating

After reading the women's section, I know that having a large belly is a common complaint. There must be an explanation and there must be SOMETHING that helps this problem. It seems to be a side effect of both taking too much enzyme and taking too little. What do you think of pancrecarb? Is there a newer enzyme out there? Any ideas on the big stomach issue would be greatly appreciated,

I have suffered for about a year now with lots of upper-intestinal gas (belching/burping/distension/nausea). I've tried cutting various foods out of my diet and that didn't seem to do the trick. My doc prescribed Miralax which didn't make a difference. I don't really know what to think or do, but it can be extremely painful and make it hard to eat because of nausea. Sometimes I end up with my diaphram sore like I've been punched in the stomach. I also have LOTS of heartburn (even though I'm on 30mg Prevacid in the AM and 300mg Zantac in the PM) and take TUMS frequently. My doc is stumped. I am currently on Pancrecarb (MT8, 6 with meals) and have been for 4 years or so. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear it. HollyCatheryn

Hi HollyCatheryn,Have you ever thought it could be related to yeast? Do you take a daily probiotic? I suffer from this too and it usually means I have too much yeast in my system. It could also be from a food allergy. I was just reading about it yesterday and decided to try something new for breakfast today. After breakfast everyday my stomach would bloat and I would start burping. So far so good. No bloating.Another thing and I'm not even sure about this. Sometimes when I get asthma symptoms I think I gasp in a lot of air and them my stomach bloats.Hope some of this helps!Tammy 43wcf

Any luck with probiotics for this problem? It seems worth a try, since all the antibiotics have the potential to cause GI symptoms.
