Accordant Health (United Healthcare)

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how the Accordant program is? I have United Healthcare. I just got a call last night to sign up for the program. Is the program any good? I think my insurance is just looking to cut cost when it comes to my care. I hate to think a stranger will be deciding what medical treatments I need and do not need. My CF Center is not very comprehensive. I wonder if I was red flagged because of it. I use three different hospitals for my care.
Thanks,
Shelly

I do not know the answer to this, but I'd suggest you post it in the adult section where a larger number of people that may be able to help are posting.

My insurance is Oxford (they are merged with United) and I am in the Accordant program. The way I see it is that Accordant is more of a patient advocate and middle man between you and your insurance company. They call every couple of months to check in on how I am doing, send out monthly newsletters on your specific health problem, etc. They also have a nurse available for questions over the phone 24 hours, but I have never had to use this service. When I have questions about insurance coverage I usually call Accordant first, and they have always been extremely helpful. Their objective is to make sure you are staying as healthy as possible (which in the end will save your insurance company money) but I have never felt like they are deciding what treatments I do or do not need. If other people have had a different experience with them I would interested to hear about it.

Good Luck.
