Hello just wondering if anyone else out there is having this problem. I am 24 years old and this is the second time I have had this happen. I woke up again with bad joint pain in my shoulders, elbows, wrist, knees and a small rash on my chest/neck. Looks like I pimples. I never break out on my chest. The pain is so bad that even with very good pain medicine I am still having a hard time walking and getting up. Last time this only lasted a day. This one has now lasted more then 24 hours. Please help!

This is almost funny because I am in the process of treating this myself. Although my rash is on my arms and legs and it is very painful as well as the joints. I am hoping to get a dignosis of Still's disease because I have all the symptoms but first I had to get a ton of tests and now have to get more done from an allergist.

It is also possible to have CF arthritis with vasculitis which sounds like it could be what you have. I would tell my doctor and maybe get the rash biopsed if it comes back again. If you want immediate relief the prednisone has helped me a ton.

If you have problems, and this goes for everybody- take a careful look into the medicines you are taking. The intent of big pharma is to get every man, woman and child hooked on their drugs. Lots of people taking drugs=lots of money. Every time we watch a television show there are countless commercials that depict people smiling from the effects of drugs. There are many commercials appearing on the radio of them. And to add to the disenfranchisement, there are gullible people or hypochondriacs, who hear these commercials and automatically think that they have these symptoms, so they rush online or to their nearest drug store and put their hard-earned money right smack in the pockets of big pharma. For the 30 seconds or so of a commercial, we are in a beautiful forest, then voila, a drug! This is unacceptable; it's a bit like robbery without a gun. Big pharma is taking advantage of people's insecurities. From every single direction, we are bombarded with propaganda glorifying toxins. On the reverse side of every OTC drug package in small print, of course, there are the listed side effects. When people buy something for a headache and read that the pill they are purchasing to cure their ailment may cause a plethora of terrible symptoms, I'm shocked they wouldn't choose to tough the headache out. My point is to do your homework, because your mommy isn't always gonna be there to do it for you, and a doctor surely won't. Research every single medication you are stuffing down your mouth, and if you're persistent enough, I'm almost certain that you'll find the answer to whatever problem is plaguing you, be it a certain medication may be reacting with another one, or just a possible side effect of one. These OTC drugs weren't researched good enough, we're the guinea pigs for big pharma.
Now I HAD joint problems, but that was because of the years of taking Zantac, a low potassium level, and falling at work. I no longer have any joint problems.

totally totally agree with you!! I do not take any medicine for CF. My medicine is running. I do pfts to see where Im at and eat healthy. Everything is sadly centered around money and I choose to live my life this way because of that. pfts are always in the 80s so for me no reason to be on something. I did find that website

Wow, you're 24 and do not take any medicine at all for your CF? I hate to be a downer, but CF is a progressive disease, and it will inevitably advance. Eventually, you're gonna have to treat it. But you're absolutely right, everything is centered around money, and profit means everything. Believe it or not, doctors get a financial kickback for prescribing certain meds, so there is no fiscal incentive for them to even consider any alternative ways to treat. It is a hell of a lot easier for them to whip out their prescription pad than to actually listen and try to figure out why you have some symptoms. Alternative medicine is 1 area, but most of us wouldn't even be alive if not for the genius in traditional medicine. I believe a lot can be alleviated with a combination of alternative AND western medicine.

As to your joint problems, if you do not take any meds, I'm at a loss as to what it could be, other than what that website claims. But as to NSAIDS, and other pain medication, if I can possibly avoid it, I refrain from them. They cause me way too much stomach discomfort and constipation, and that super cedes any headache.

While I agree that medicine should not be taken unless absolutely needed, if you are having the severe pain I have had with arthritis you will eventually need to take something. It is not something to just let happen because it can get worse. If the rash continues I would really think about going to a dermatologist because it could be an allergy to any medicine or the environment. Otherwise just tell your CF doctor because they should be familiar with this problem

I am 37 and have suffered with this joint pain since I was 9. When I was younger I got the rash...but as an adult not too often...but definitely get the flare ups and the awful joint pain. The only thing that I have found that helps me is prednisone. This is some type of arthritis and I see a rheumatologist for it. He also thought it was Still's disease...but really isnt sure. Mine has led to rheumatoid arthritis now after all these years. I am on methotrexate and prednisone but the flare ups are happening quite frequently...and most of the time they are so random. Other times, if I do overwork my body physically...I have a flare up.
There is so little known about this problem that they arent sure what it is ...or even how to treat it. As I said, since this seems to be an inflammatory flare up...prednisone should help. Most of the time, I dont need a big dose...but do need to take it for several days before it goes away completely. Good Luck to you...if you have any questions I would be happy to talk...
