I know I haven't posted in a while but I have a question. Holly was started on Advair again the past few weeks. It has helped her with her shortness of breath. my question is this.....she is coughing twice as much now as she was before. she lay behind me in bed coughing horribly for about 2 hours now. i got her out of bed & did a xopenex treatment and she's still coughing like crazy. shes on her 28 days OFF of TOBI & I am at my wits end with this cough.

any advice...has anyone else had this problem?

Hmmm...well, my guess is that either she is getting a flare up that is unrelated to the Advair (it is cold season ), or that the Advair is reducing the inflammation and she may be coughing up stuff she couldn't get up before. Is she on the powder or the HFA inhaler? I had to switch to the inhaler because the powder was actually starting to cause SOB. Or, I guess she could have opened an airway that led to an infected spot deeper down, and be fighting that. Er, the fun question- what color is her sputum now? That would be a big one to help decide what's going on .

Sorry- all I've got is speculations! I hope her cough gets better soon! What has you doctor said?
