In case any of you were wondering, I decided I am going to Africa.
I talked to my doctors, my parents, my friends, my family, my priest, basically everyone and I decided to go for it.
If you want to follow my journey I'm keeping an online journal www.livejournal.com/~hidaya_kificho
Thanks for all your advice!

Good for you Maggie,

It sounds like you are mature beyond your years. Getting input is always a good way to keep balance in your life..(Note to self...practice what you preach HA) I need to do that more often...I have been real stubborn lately...

In the end, you have to do what is in your heart to do.... and I am so happy for you and have every confidence that you will take all possible saftey measures....and also that you will have an amazing time.

I will for sure be following your journey. I am so excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When are you leaving????

Hoping you have a life changing experience.....

Hey Maggie,
Where are you going in Africa? I'm hoping to study abroad in Kenya next year. I haven't worked out all the details yet with meds, etc, but I'm really excited to go. Are you going with a school or religious program? Good luck!

Hello again or rather Hujambo!
I just looked at your live journal page and saw that you're going to Tanzania. That is awsome, my swahili professor is from Tanzania, (Arusha) and tells us that from her family's home there you can see Mt. Kilimanjaro from their living room! (She also told us that only crazy Americans ever try to climb it <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> ) Are you studying Swahili? Let me know if you ever want to practice - I'd love to practice mine with someone. Good luck with the fundraising.
