Age to join forums/kids forum

Hi
I've posted a similar message on the teenager's forum, but thought I'de ask other mum's for their opinions.

My son Sam (wcf) is 10.5 and has recently asked about whether there were other cf kids that he could meet so that he doesnt feel like he's the only yp he knows with it (although he has an older brother and sister with cf, there is a big age diff.).
I've explained the infection issue to him often, and he understands that aspect...sooo, the only way he can communicate with other cfer's is through forums.
There doesnt seem to be forums especially for his age group, and I dont know if the teens forum is suitable because of the issues raised on it.
I havent really discussed the entire cf picture with Sam, because no one really knows how the individual's journey with cf will turn out, and my other two (much older) cf adult children have been fairly well (although Sam has been sicker than them). He knows that there is no cure for cf, and that some people can become quite sick.
I dont want him to be afraid of his future, and some of the things discussed on the teenage forum may be a bit too much for him?

What do you all think? I think there should be a forum for maybe 9-12 year olds, as they can feel very isolated with their cf., and have no one to talk about their feelings.

He should be able to post on the teen/young peoples section asking for someone around his age to talk with. All different ages post on their tho its not frequent. You could even search the messages already there for CFers his age. I dont know of any other forum for his age off the top of my head. I will investigate, but I think its safe for him to post a message on the teens &/or search the messages already there.

Hi Jo, my name is Laurie. I have a 9yr.old son Darin with CF. He does very well. He has only been in the hospital 3 times. He plays baseball and football. He does awesome! Darin has a 2 yr. old brother without CF ansd he doesn't complain about that at all. I have always wanted darin to talk to someone else with CF just so he knows or can talk to someone else with CF. I don't have a blog but I can give you my e-mail address and maybe they can get to know one another through e-mail. Darin is very much into dirt bikes!! That's what his big Christams gift was!! I'm so encouraged to see when parents have tried more then one time to have kids. We are thinking about a 3rd! Hopefully we will hear from you! Take care!

My kids also wanted a chat section here for just young people. It seems that not many people use it, although I'm not sure why.

Maybe if we all agree on a time to meet, all the young people who want to chat would be on together and break the ice.

My son 91/2, JD, has peeked on at me a few times and is really interested in other kids his age w/ CF. I think a kids section would also be great.....the last two years we have done Sunny Shore Sea Camp for CF at Disney Vero. I loved that he could see other people that had CF and know that he was not the only one in the world w/ CF and see Adults that were healthy and happy. Each family has their own room and and there is limited contact with other CFers, dinner is group format and everyone entering has to use hand sanitizer and they issue personal drinking glasses and bottled drinks. We have had a great time there and he has never cultured anything before or after going there, but I am strongly considering not going this year, just to scary, we have been very fortunate or should I say LUCKY, so if we keep going I may be pushing my luck and would regret if he got something. So, if he could chat with others his age, that would be awesome. He loves sports and the outdoors, hunting and Quads, just send me a personal message, if u guys want to figure out a way to get some of the younger kids in touch.
