Ok, So hubby and I are putting kids on hold due to marital problems. You may have seen my post in adults. But you guys know all about cycles and things so....
I got my first period after going off birth contol after about 2 1/2 months. April 18th was the one right after I stopped the patch, then the next was July 7, then the next was 48 days later: Aug 23. The Aug 23rd period only lasted about 2 days (a little spotting on the third) and was VERY light. I did a pregnancy test about 2 weeks ago that was negative. But my period normally lasts about 5 days with a moderate flow at the most (always been a little on the lighter side). But this one was much shorter and lighter even for me. Could it have been breakthrough bleeding? Or is it more likely a hormonal problem? This is really irritating!

were your periods regular before the pill?

You still haven't been off the pill all that long - I'd give it a few more months and then try charting your BBT for a few cycles to get a really good idea of what is going on with your body.

Jessi,

I don't really have much advice for you with your periods but thought I'd share with you my experience coming off the pill.

I stopped the pill mid-cycle on June 19, 2005 (my 1 year wedding anniversary). It's never good to stop mid-cycle, but I actually was starting to get 2 periods a month for the past 2 months. At that time, I was running 45 minutes a day and doing about 3 miles in 45 minutes. I was going to enter a 5K marathon the following month, July.

Anyway, my cycles were already messed up but most likely due to exercise. When I stopped the pill in mid-June, I got 2 periods that month. In July, I had 2 periods too, but the first one (mid-cycle) was nearly nothing. By August, I had only 1. My cycle was maybe 26 days, but I only had 1 period. By September, I had a normal 30-day cycle. So for me, I would say it took 3 months.

BTW: I was on the pill (Levora) for 10 years. I really hope that things start to get easier for you soon. I'm sorry to hear about how things aren't panning out for you again. (((HUGS))) <img src="i/expressions/heart.gif" border="0">

April was the last month I was on the Ortho Evra patch and I finished the cycle. So I have had 4 full months off of the patch, and 2 periods in that time. I was like clockwork until I was about 18 and then my periods started to go crazy. I wouldn't get a period for 2 months and when I did it would last FOREVER. Then 2 weeks later I'd get another one, and so on. So my doc at the time put me on the pill. I was on the patch for the last 2 years though. One reason I went on the patch was because I heard that it is easy to get pregnant when you come off of it. In fact I know a few people who have gotten pregnant right away when they came off the patch. I have done a little research and learned that there are a few things like hypothyroidism and PCOS can cause a lot of the symptoms I'm having. Not just the irregular cycle, but mood swings, depression, fatigue and headaches. But do I wait a little longer or make an appointment with the OB?
