Air purifiers

I'm sure this topic has been hit on many times, but I know opinions change. So, I have an opportunity to buy a very expensive Nikken air purifier. My son is 7 months with CF and even though he has no lung issues, I want to make sure our home is clean. They some the air inside homes is often more polluted than the outside, so I really want to get it right while he is young and healthy. Any opinions on air purifiers in general, or this one specifically?

I'm not familiar with that brand. We have a hepa Whirlpool Whispursure, which at the time we got it was one of the highest rated based on a consumer report group. Ones to avoid are the ionic ones.

I have had one for a year now. It is Honeywell (we don't have any other here in France). I am really happy with it except for the noise, it is quite loud so impossible to run at night. It has HEPA filter and carbon filter that gets rid of different smells. by looking at the state of carbon filter (it is sooo dirty) when I change it every couple of months, I draw the conclusion that it is totally worth it.

Definately stay away from air purifiers that use ions. Ions emit ozone which causes respiratory damage. Whirlpool has a new Whispursure - I saw online that it is available in March. So I plan on getting that one. Many people on this site have recommended it and it scored well with the CADR.
