Airway Clearance Vest

I am new on here, and thought I could give blogging a try. My sons airway clearance machine broke, and we have been trying for a few months to get a new one. My insurance will cover a good chunk of the cost, but we still have to pay a good chunk (like new car chunk). Anybody know how I can get a new, or even used, one? My son is ten years old with CF and his vest REALLY helped him!
Thank you!

Are you in the states?

Have you visited with any of the vest companies? We orginally thought that we'd have to come up with 20% of the cost of the machine based on our insurances durable medical equipment policy; however, we were assigned a case manager through our insurance company, the vest company submitted initial information. It was denied, then they asked for more information, we were sent a vest and after about a year we were informed our cost was $500.

With a friend of mine, the vest company was able to spread the costs over two years -- two claims possibly as a rent to own...? so insurance covered a good portion of the costs, then they were able to get low interest financing thru the company for the remainder of the amount.

When I first heard about the vest, I began to put money away, plus thru work we have flexible spending accounts to set aside a portion of costs for medical expenses using pretaxed dollars.

Which vest therapy are you using. There are a few companies. The SmartVest (Electromed)has been known to work with patients and families and you may want to contact them. L Silver
