Allergic Reaction to Septra

Hi Everyone,

I've been on Septra DS for about a week. My lips have swelled a few times and I have been very weak , etc. I called my doctor yesterday, and he called me in a different prescription. I was wondering if anyone knew how long this stuff takes to get out of your system? My lips swelled againt today, even though I stopped taking it yesterday.

Any Ideas?

I had an allergic reaction to it about 5 or 6 years ago when I was a teenager. My lips didnt swell but i did get hives all over my body... (Oh the fun of allergic reactions). I am basically allergic to everything under the sun and even the sun gives me hives ... =) I would take benadrill (sp?) It will knock you out for a while but thats what always helps me. But if it dosent get better let your doctor know ASAP =)

Also make sure you tell them you are allergic to it when you are getting any meds , especially in the hospital in case one of the meds they want to give you is in the same family.

Dandelion tea can really help to cleanse the liver of toxins and cleanse the blood. It isn't the most pleasant taste but it works with a little honey. I had a friend who used it after receiving some serious drugs to stop labor and it helped her feel better.

I had a very bad reaction to Septra when I was about 1 I think. My lips, throat and mouth completly swelled up, and I had to be rushed to the hospital. I've since never taken it again.
