Allergic to Anitibiotics!?!?!

So Dr. is saying i have this delayed serum sickness. A week after coming off antibiotics esp sulfa i get really sick like flu symptoms! Absolutlely miserable! Joints ache, fever, chills, sweats, coughing tons, lots of mucus. So now he has switched me to Minocycline and Cipro with prednisone for 10 days. But i am gettting super dizzy and nauseaous. What can i do?? this is miserable. He says if im not better by monday then picc line, but none of the meds are working.....they are making me more sick then if i wasnt on them. Plus my lung function is dropping from 50's 4 months ago to the low 30's!! I have never been this low and am really starting to freak out. Is there any alternatives or is my next step transplant? I do my vest and albutorol, hyper sal, pulmozyme. Has anyone had this delayed serum sickness before?? what did your doc have to say about it? Any info would be great!

The sulfas give me that type of reaction, a delayed reaction that makes me very ill. I have severe GI problems with it, and I get a peeling type of rash usually not immediately but days into or after treatment... I no longer take the medicine, the allergists have advised against taking it or even trying to desensitize to it because it is that type of reaction. They said that it would have been safer to do so if I had an immediate response, like anaphylaxis....the delayed type put me at high risk for developing Stevens-Johnson syndrome. I hope that this new combo does it for you though and brings your PFT's back up
