Altitude changes and CF

Just wondering if any of you have vacationed or movd to a area from sea level to a high altitude and how it may have affected your CF. Did you have a hard time breathing? Headaches? We are thinking of taking a vacation in Colorado to ski in February where the altitude is much higher...My husband has already been out there once and he said he had a headache and felt short of breath for one day til he got adjusted; but he does not have CF. I don't want to plan a vacation when my daughter may feel miserable the whole time.

We've taken DS to CO and stayed near rocky mountain national park, which is at about 8,000 feet for a week. The first time he was about 14 months, 22 months and when he was about 2 1/2. The first two times it was in the summer, unseasonably warm. Just made sure he (and the rest of us were hydrated. The other time was in the winter and we stayed in Denver.

I tend to get headaches, which a large part I believe is from my needing to drink more and adjusting to the altitude. I did notice that DS did run fever the 2nd summer, but thought he maybe had an ear infection and wondered if I should find a clinic, but the next morning he was fine. Tylenol took care of it and other than a decreased appetite, he was pretty perky, happy go lucky.

Haven't gone recently though.

I've traveled to higher altitudes multiple times and only noticed a problem when I was doing super aerobic stuff, (like biking uphill for an hour in Utah). I've heard the key is to drink plenty of water, so I always make a point to do that.

My husband and I went to Denver, CO for our honeymoon last year. We also went to another area that I can't remember the name of but it was quite a bit higher altitude. I noticed that I got short of breath more. I was told to drink a lot of water as well. One thing that I actually liked was that there isn't much humidity there. I didn't want to come home because I live in an area where there is a ton of humidity most of the time. Have fun on your vacation!
