Family, Friends & Teachers,
Amber received another pass last night (5 hours) & came to the
apartment for dinner again. She eats so much better when I cook rather than
having to eat that horrible hosp. food. She is starting to feel so much
better now (finally) & is going to the gym at the hospital with
physical thearpy. She walked 2 1/2 minutes on the treadmill. Her chest tubes
are still in & we are hoping they can remove them soon. She cant be
released with them in. I was going to talk with the docs today to see if
they will make an exception. Hopefully they can let her go & we can
return each day for appointments & testing. I am very confident I can
care for her at the apartment without any problems. We are close enough
to the hospital that we can return quickly if needed. Also the dr.s
have decreased her anti-rejection med. (prograf) because her kidneys are
getting worse due to this med. They are going to do a lung biopsy again
tomorrow to check for rejection because they went down on the dosing
for prograf. The dr.'s have consulted other adult transplant docs from
another hospital who deal more with lung transplant patients with renal
failure. They were the ones who said to go down on the prograf & do a
biopsy sooner. Amber will need to be put to sleep for the biopsy. I
will update again with the results of the biopsy as soon as i hear
something.
