Americans buying Canadian Drugs

Just curious if there are any Americans who are currently buying CF drugs from Canada. What is the price difference? Does insurance cover it? What drugs are you buying?

Thanks!

Be very careful. A lot of those "Canadian" drug websites aren't even located in Canada. And their potency cannot be guarenteed.

I know people buy drugs from both Canada and India. For some people, it is the only way they can afford them. It helps to choose reliable sites/companies, if you know people who live in those countries or who have used the company before.

Nevada just opened a government run website for people to safely buy drugs from Canada. They just passed a law here making it legal. I think the news report mentioned that a woman who purchased a 30 day supply at $69 regular price got them for about $10 from Canada. So, that was just an example they gave. You could check if your state has legalized this, and if so, they may have a website set up to help.

Good Luck. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

Be careful. Just cuz a state has legalized something, doesn't mean that the Federal Government has. Because it hasn't.

As we all know in the States, Federal Law overrides State law. I wouldn't be surprised if those websites weren't shut down by the feds soon.

Another reason to be careful...

Other countries (including India) sometimes have the same name for a completly different drug with the same name here in the states. I wish I could remember some of the names, but I have a hard enough time remembering the names of what I take!

But for example, say a drug is called Goldenoxadyl, and you take it here in the states to treat a heart condition. You find the same name drug from a pharmacy outside of the U.S. for cheaper so you buy it - but, in the country it was made, Goldenoxadyl is a comletly differenct medicine that is used to treat kidney disease. Or perhaps it does treat your heart condition, but it has a different chemical makeup, so you experience unusual (or fatal) side effects.

There are so many reasons why you need to be careful with prescriptions outside of the states - if you do, read the medication insert VERY carefully to make sure it in fact the same drug treating the same condition at the same dose.
