an update while we wait

I posted previously about my son hopefully getting checked for CF. I called his GI doc today and he is not available this week but will see my son on April 2nd. His cough seems to still be lingering but he seems fine otherwise. I probably could get him in to see his regular pediatrician sooner but I don't think it will do any good to go to him so as long as my son doesn't start with a fever I will wait.

It's only a cheek swab or blood draw to get gene tested.... a nurse could do it at either your GI or peds clinic.

Every hour would seem like a week to me if I was waiting to see if my kid has CF and I'm sure you're no different seeing your son suffering! Why not just get the cheek swab or blood draw tomorrow? You'll already have a couple of weeks to wait once the specimen is sent in...

I agree, why not have the pediatrician order the test. You can get the proper Ambry forms from the Ambry website if I remember correctly. I had a test kit and forms sent to me from Ambry to have my daughters cord blood tested. My test results took 3 weeks (CF dx) and my daughters took about 2 weeks (no CF and they knew what mutations they were looking for).
