Another Birth Control question

My Dr is nervous to give a pill form of the pill because of the absorbtion rate. So right now I am using the Nuva Ring. It has worked great up until now. My antiseizure meds weakens the affect of estrogen based b/c.
What none estrogen based b/c do you reccomend?

it appears that it isn't estrogen based, rather it is progestin. My cousin used the Mirena IUD and loved it - she didn't have a period for over 2 years till she recently took it out because they are thinking of conceiving in the next few months.

If I tried an IUD it would have to be Merena because my hemoptysis is worse when I am on my period so I use birth control to skip it.
Do you know how long it took for her periods to stop after starting Merena?
