Well, my boyfriend has cf and I will have to get a blood test to see if I have the cf gene. That way we will know if our kids would have cf or just be carriers. I don't know if Kansas would pay for it or not... I don't think so though since I'm not realted to him either..

If you ask this question in the parents and family section or even in the adult forum you may get more answers because I know alot of people on this site pay for them for their children. Also sometimes insurance will cover it.

Are you pregnant now? or Planning? I just noticed your age and thought it was young to be thinking of kids is why I ask. It never hurts to be prepared and all and I am not trying to knock you, it just surprised me is all.

For me insurance paid it, but I have CF. You could also talk to your gynocologist (I am assuming that if you are talking about having kids that you haev a gynocologist - if not you should get one <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">) about getting a blood screening through Ambry (from what I have heard it is the best and most comprehensive genetic testing). You may want to ask her/him especially since you are concerned about it for pregnancy issues and such. They might be able to tell you if your insurance would cover it - I DOUBT our government will pay for it in the States - but insurance might. Also to add insurance might not cover all of it but may cover a portion - especially if the two of you were married and shared insurance or something like that. I am not advocating marriage but just a thought for down the road stuff.

Good Luck,
Lindsey
