Another Rummage Sale

A couple ladies from the area and I are once again participating in the community rummage sale. We rent space for a nominal fee. Last spring we raised well over $1,000 -- last time I raided our housewares, knick knacks and DS' old baby clothes. This time we've gotten donations from people who were otherwise going to send the stuff to the thrift store.

Wish us luck!

Good luck! I was very pleased with the results of our rummage sale this summer. I also gathered donations from people, and we got a great variety that way.

We are thinking about trying to get a hall or something donated next year....rather than do it in 3 garages like this year. I suppose I should start looking into that. *sigh*

Hope you are twice as successful selling "junk" than last year! LOL

I hope it goes well!!! We just went through and pulled out books that my kids don't use anymore. We were thinking of selling them to raise money, but opted to just donate the books to our children's hospital's playroom instead -- they need kids things. I hope your efforts raise a good deal of money!!

While it wasn't as well attended at the community rummage sale in the spring, we still made at least $400. Was suprised that people didn't snap up the nice winter coats and ski jackets we had for $5 or less. I snapped up one for a buck to donate to DS' daycare along with several pairs of pants we had. We had nice girls items and people would say they only needed a size 2T instead of a 3T. Heck, when DS was a baby I bought really nice items that he didn't wear for a few years and was THRILLED about it. He still wears a pair of dinosaur healthtex shorts I bought from the neighbor's rummage sale for 50 cents.

We DID pack everything back up in tubs -- women's pants/jeans, boys infant to 5T, men's pants, small tops... Labeled them, so we can easily store and unload for the one they have in April.

We all now ask people to donate stuff they'd normally give to the local thrift shops. When I think of all the stuff I'VE donated to goodwill through out the years... Heck we could've made a ton of money for CF.

Tami, wonder if you couldn't get a church or school to host one. Ours is held at the park hockey arena. We rent space(s), they let us set up between noon and 8 the previous day, let us in at 6:30 and the sale is from 7-2. They have their concessions stand open, provide electricity for some of the booths. Afterwards, for anything we didn't want to take back with us -- like a vertical blind and a filing cabinet we couldn't seel and didn't want to take back with us -- there was a thrift store truck waiting out front to take donations...
