Anti-biotic side effects after you're finished with them?

I was recently on tobramycin, vancomycin, and meropenum, all for 2 weeks. I was finished with them Wed night, and that night I had lower back pain, and being kidney stone-prone, I can recognize when I have one. I definitely have one. But that's not all, on both of my thumbs the skin is peeling off and flesh is exposed. I guess I generally don't feel so hot.

So can you experience side effects from an anti-biotic even after you stop? FYI, I am anxiously waiting my I Flora probiotic to arrive, in the meantime I eat yogurt with live cultures and occasionally take a pro-biotic I have laying around. It's only 2 billion CFU though.

I didnt have the skin peeling, but I am still getting really tired and i have been off for almost 3 weeks . Although some of mine is from being down so long since right after christmas and the paxil they have me on. I do have some major acid reflux . Im already on protonix twice a day .

Hi Regina, yea I'm also experiencing more acid reflux then usual, but I thought that was on account I didn't go to the grocery store in a little while, so all that I have is junk food. I'm am dead tired all the time; I could fall asleep standing up!

Have you pinpointed a certain anti-biotic that is causing all of this? I kinda think it is the meropenum, because I was on tobramycin in 2008, and it didn't cause any of this. So it's either the meropenum or vanco. I'm at a loss here!

I didn't get the worsening acid reflux till I got on the ceftazadime and the Levaquin . I was on vanc and meropenem around the last 2 weeks of January. Then on the others around the 2nd week of February. The meropenem caused me to have nausea and extremely tired. I didn't notice a lot on the vanc just leg aches. The ceftaz for me is deadly it causes me severe lung inflammation . The levaquin is rough on my stomach and causes major anxiety. Sugar will cause you to have more reflux . I love caffeine free diet dr pepper but I am giving it up . Mr dr told me the carbonation is the problem . I am also on azithromycin so that may be some of it.
