I am feeling really anxious at the moment cos my daughter was booked in this morning to have a blood test for her annual review in February. Anyways, we cancelled last minute because they were going to do it on a Childrens Ward at the Hospital. I hope some of you understand - our daughter is only 3 years old and we really didn't want to go to the Childrens Ward for the test done because we were scared of her picking anything up from there. We really didn't think it appropriate for her to have a blood test done at a Childrens Ward. I phoned up the Paediatric Nurse and explained this and I got the impression that she really didn't understand our point of view. Last year, she had her blood test done in the treatment room in the CF Clinic she attends every 2 months, but I said that this wasn't really a good idea, because she'll have a fear every time she goes back in that room. I explained this and the Nurse asked me if I can think of a better option. I asked her if she could have the test done at home and she just said no. Any advice please! Thanks.

We usually go to the clinic lab, no matter what clinic we're at -- local, infectious disease, CF clinic. Only time they've come to us and drawn blood was when DS was admitted and in the NICU.

We also always go to the CF clinic lab at the Childrens Hospital. The only time we have done any labs at a local lab is for the glucous monitoring test, and the results are sent to the CF doctor/clinic.

Seems kinda strange. I guess I'd ask some questions as to whether or not they have an actual lab on that floor.

It does seem kinda strange. We just didn't like the idea of going onto a Childrens' Ward if it wasn't really necessary. Anyways, I thought I'd ask you guys what you thought with our daughter only being 3 cos this is new to us. We really didn't feel right going onto the ward for the test done. We just don't know what to do at the moment.
