Anyone do sinus nebulizer?

There is a nebulizer made specifically for the sinuses called the SinuStar nasal delivery system made specifically to deliver medication to the sinuses with nasal prongs instead of wearing a mask and breathing in through your nose. I was wondering if anyone has heard or used this for antibiotics or even DNase. My sinuses seem to be worse than my lungs right now so I figured it couldn't hurt. My ENT says we don't need to go to that route yet but he is not the one feeling like crap all the time because sinuses don't drain. And I just had the fess where they drill into the sinuses to make the opening bigger and I want to get the most out of my surgery. I don't go to the cf clinic until march so I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts.

Something our ENT had my son try is to do the gentamycin in a nebulizer wearing a mask that covers nose & mouth both. (Like a child's mask). It seems to help get things up into sinuses without the trauma of the nose prong idea. It works as long as my son's sinuses aren't blocked up too badly. It may be something to try in the meantime.

It was suggested to me but I was told an ENT would be better to ask about it as my CF center had never used one before. Sounds like it would definitely be helpful. I always get better relief with a mask breathing through my mouth and nose. Even if I'm so clogged I can't breathe through my nose, just letting the meds reach it with the mask clears me out quicker. I have a sinus nebulizer. It was ordered by Dr. Holly Boyer at the University of Minnesota. She's something of a CF sinus specialist. I got the machine, neb and drugs from ASL Pharmacy. Their contact info is 866.552.7579.

I honestly don't know why I needed a new nebulizer machine. I just switched out air hoses and nebs and used my usual breathing treatment machine. Yes, I tried the new one, too. There was no difference that I could tell. I did have to change hoses because the part where you connect the air hose to the neb is just enough bigger gauge that the air hose from my breathing treatment neb would NOT work.

Now, did I need a sinus neb? I don't know. It probably helped, but sitting around with a neb misting up your nose and dripping for 20 minutes got to be too much for me. I did bring it out after my last sinus surgery. (I'm over a dozen in my lifetime. The last one was with Dr. Boyer and was *5* hours!) It did seem to really help keep thing moisturized, and somewhat less painful.

I have a miracuolous home remedy that almost completely solve my problems. It's drinking Sodium-Chloride solution !!! Just a little every day, I also inhale it (boil it then inhale) and it cured muy lungs, I tried it first a month ago and it was a miracle to me. I advice everyone to try it. It is probably so beneficial as the main problem with cf is actually not transporting water and electrolites through lungs, intestines etc. This was a true miracle for me I advice everyone to try it it can do no harm.

Yes, my daughter started using one called Sinuneb for pulmazyme after sinus surgery 1 yr ago. Dr did not order tobi or any other med for it though, did not think it would do much good ( I am not sure I agree )

Many years ago I had sinus surgery and the surgeon got me started doing daily sinus rinses. I find they get a lot of the blockage out and clear things up. The junk I'm clearing from my sinuses would otherwise have drained into my lungs. I mix 1 1/3 cups distilled water, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, and 1 teaspoon sea salt. I use an ear syringe (http://www1.shoppersdrugmart.ca/en/...rsonal-Care/Eye-Care/products/87/057800012665) to shoot the mixture into my sinuses. I use one full syringe in each nostril. The mixture can be used for a week at which time it should be thrown out. I do this routine first thing every morning. My doctor warned me that I should not do it within 3 to 4 hours of bedtime.

A neti pot might also be something to explore.
