I was just wondering if anyone is from ontario. I have a few questions on how to get things done like testing and so on.....Im having one heck of a time with our local hospital and need some help or advice on how to push!

We are in Sk. What type of problems are you dealing with?? We see our cf doc this week maybe he knows some tricks??

I am from Toronto and would strongly recommend going to Sick Kids Hospital downtown Toronto for anything CF related.

We are having a hard time getting the doctors todo gen. testing on my son. We are (3 hours North of Toronto). He has had a sweat test of 39 and the doctors up here seem to think that it rules out CF they wont look at anything else they just keep telling me that they dont know whats wrongg with my son. I want to get to sick kids but they wont take a refural from my GP they want one from a peds. He has alot of resp. issuse and he has fatty stool. I know that if we lived in the US then we could pay to havee the testing done if we pay out of pocket (at this point we would do anything to get to the bottem of all of this) We dont know how to get around the local no minds and get him seen by someone who knows what they are doing!
Any suggestions?

I was just rereading what you wrote... just wondering why you can't request your own genetic testing and pay your self??? We are new to all this and haven't had the cf gen tests yet. But I do recall my dad having testing done for another scary gen disease that runs in our family "sigh" I think it was a small out of pocket expense?
