We are thinking of moving to the Denver area. We live in Eastern NM. We have to drive 4 hours for appts. Anyone from Denver who can tell me how it is there and what kind of Dr's there are. Also how does the weather affect your cfer? We have a lot of heat and dust in the air all the time. I can dust and two minutes later it doesnt look like we dusted at all. Also the heat bothers him so much and he gets tired easily. Is it beater to breath at a higher altitude? We were there last week visiting and he seemed to do better but had some allergies when we went to the mountains. We were told there is an excellent CF clinic at the Childrens hospital.

hi there.

i went to childrens (dr. frank accurso, although occasionally saw jeff wagner) from diagnosis until i was 22 years old. love, love, LOVE the team there and can't say enough about the nurses, doctors -- really everyone. they are extremely proactive, a huge research center, and they now have a gorgeous new hospital (never got the benefit of that personally, but i've been there and it's lovely). really, i can guarantee you that your child will get first-rate care.

the weather in denver is dry, dry, dry. personally i did well there, and when we tried to move to texas the humidity really took a toll on my health. altitude shouldn't be a big deal right now, although later on some people end up on O2 a bit earlier than they might at sea level. the great thing about CO is that it's a HUGE exercise state -- people are very physical and that's great for CF lungs. it gets hot in the summer and cool in the winter, but i never found either climate to be terrible for my health.
