I took it later in my pregnancy with Alexa with no issues.
I am 7 weeks pg now and my cough is feeling a little gross in the morning. I could probably hold off until closer to 12 weeks but on the other hand why chance it you know? I have not had to do IV antibiotics for cf related issues in YEARS so I would like to keep that streak going. What would you do?? My concern is that the first tri is such a crucial point in the development of every vital organ. Thanks for the input!
Also thanks for all of the well wishes. I am sorry I have not have a chance to respond....between all day "morning sickness" and a toddler time is pretty limited.
Love,
Anne

I didn't take TOBI early in pregnancy but did later on. For me, I don't think I'd take that risk. Much less tobramycin gets into your bloodstream when you do TOBI but it still gets in there. Have you asked your doctor if there is anything else you can take to hold you over? Of course my opinion is no substitute for your own so good luck with whatever you decide to do. I'm sure your baby will be fine whatever you choose to do <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

IMO, an inhaled antibiotic is safer than oral or IVs. I did take TOBI early in pregnancy and moved on to Aztreonam at 20 weeks for an infection. No ill effects on my babies. I would have no qualms about taking any inhaled antibiotic during any point in pregnancy. Baby is much better off with a healthy mom, IMO.

I don't think too much inhaled TOBi gets into the baby - most of it is localized in the lungs, which makes it safe for breastfeeding, and I would guess ok for pregnancy (don't nec. go by the pharm info - if it isn't tested on pregnant women it is usually deemed unsafe for pregnancy)

I'm with you on holding off if you can - I am a firm believer in minimal medicine when possible, but having to take prolonged oral antibiotics later for something you could prevent now might not make sense. The orals are going to get to the baby in a much higher quantity.

I think either or both LouLou and Scarlett81 stayed on the TOBi for their whole pregnancies - so maybe PM them and ask about what their docs said?
