Are air purifiers necessary or recommended?

Hello,Due to have my second baby August 10th (with CF). Can anyone tell me if it has been recommended that you have air purifiers in your homes? Before I start going crazy buying one for each room I would like to know what others who have been living with CF would recommend. Thank you again for all your help!

I can't imagine it would hurt to have a purifier & I would if I could afford one! Just for peace of mind.<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

We bought one for our daughter when she was about 3yrs old. It is just a small one that sits on the floor in her bedroom and we only use it at night. We live in a highly polluted area and felt that it may do her some good since she sleeps about 11-12 hrs per night. Other than that we do not use it. I don't think the CF team ever even mentioned it to us, it was just something we wanted to do.Heather - Mom to Ashley

I have an air purifier in my room and I notice that it does seem to help me breathe better. My mom says she doesn't hear me coughing as much at night. But I suppose it depends on the person. But I figure what harm can it do to have one? However they are kind of expensive.

I just bought a Sharper Image: Ionic Breeze GP Air Purifier in the Burltech design from the Sharper Image store on EBAY for 175.00 (including delivery and tax). They have refurbished ones for alot less with a 5 year guarentee. I also bought one for the bathroom for 37.00 (including delivery and tax). Thanks. Paula

I also have one just for my bedroom. I figure out of all the rooms in my house I spend the most time there. If you can afford it I guess its probably a good idea to get one for the bedroom at least it cant hurt.

Although an air purifier isn't necessary it probably doesn't hurt. I noticed that after I got one in my room I had to dust less because there was less dust in the air. I wouldn't get air purifiers for all rooms in your house, that's just expensive. But having one in the area where your child is sleeping wouldn't hurt. Also it got to a point where I couldn't sleep without the sound of the purifier going... Just got to used to the noise. Hope that helps.

I have thought about getting one myself, I am allergic to mite (a microscopic bug in dust for those of you who didn't know what it was). A purifier would be good for any body with CF, asthma or allergies.Dave 29 w/cf

Hey Jake, sorry it took me so long to reply, my family and I have been on vacation. I have pretty much the same as Paula, the Ionic Breeze Silent Air Purifier by Sharper Image Design with Germicidal Protection.
