sorry for the corny topic title.

i am frustrated b/c i have finally replaced all my old neb cups with new ones in the last couple of months. i also took the time to color code them straight out of the bag so that i am sure that each outer cup matches the inner stem that it came with. my question is, why do they all work so differently??? this is incredibly frustrating when you are nebbing something like tobi where it can go from taking 30 mins to 45 mins in a good or bad neb. but its not just tobi, it's for my pulmozyme and HS too. but with the tobi, you know how it has that really distinct strong taste? well, i taste that in the good nebs, but i can't in the bad ones. this leads me to believe that the medication may not be being delivered correctly!

what do you guys think? do you just keep returning them when you get ones that don't work well? all the ones i have that work well have worked well from the start and the ones that work bad worked bad from the start. :S

I agree 100% if I can't taste the meds and what I KNOW they taste like I know there is something wrong with the neb cup. The different nebs are used for different meds because of the way they vaporize - not sure if that is the right term - the different sized particles. I would say that if TOBI doesn't taste very strong to you and badly then the neb isn't doing the best job - same with Pulmo (which to me taste sweet) if it doesn't have the "normal" taste then the neb probably isn't doing the job properly.

Are you finding the problem with different PARI cups or different cups in general - meaning PARI cups, Disposable cups, Side stream cups and so on? I have not hada problem with any PARI cups unless I use them past the 6 months - which usually happens when I forget to write down when I got them.

i would ask PARI why they vary.

i've used PARI LC plus nebs for the past 6 years and I have replaced them every 6 months. That's 12 seperate shipments. And I've never had this problem <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif" border="0">

Defiinitely ask PARI

I've gotten "bad" ones, but it is usually a technical thing... like they just clog up instantly or the tops don't fit ones boiled, etc... I've noticed sometimes meds taste and other times they don't, but I never really thought about it. I've never "coded" my nebs cause according to PARI, if you boil in between each treatment, they can be interchanged. Would be interesting to know whether the "no-taste" cups are the same ones over and over, and therefore assuming a flaw in that particular neb.

Please let us know what PARI has to say on this. Great question!

I use Pari LC Plus...mine seem to leak after about a month or two. I never make it to the 6 month like it say you can. It will leak with TOBI, but not HS. Its strange. I have had the stronger taste then later its not, I've never thought about the effectiveness of the medicine being delivered. I figured I was just getting "use" to the taste of the medicine for that month.

This is a good question because I noticed all of a sudden Katy's TOBI treatment is taking less than 20 minutes, and before it took 25 minutes at least, and then some was still left but wouldn't ever come out.

We did start using a brand new PARI LC Plus because I thought we had ruined the old one. I'm not sure if the speedier treatment happened when we switched (I'm in a constant brain fog). I thought maybe we were just getting better at it!

Now I'll know that sometimes it might just be the neb - that it doesn't work right. I agree with blindhearted that I don't see these lasting 6 months. This new one we have been using already doesn't fit together as well as it did.
