Ashley's double lung transplant journey

I'm Ashley(minichic) i was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when i was 14 months old,I lived pretty normally and then when i wass 4 years old i started having really bad stomach pains and i was rushed to the hospital by my parents andthe docotor told them i had a blockage and that i would have to have surgery, so i went through surgery and did fine up until i turned 13 my pulmonary functions dropped to the 17's and i was put on oxygen and told i needed to start searching for transplant centers to be evaluated asap so i went to UNC chapel hill i was listed october 28th of 2009 and i was transplanted novemeber 28th of 2009 surgery and pain was'nt near as bad as i had heard i was scared to death people will scare you to death but truth is everyones journey is diffrent noone's is gonna be the same i am now doing great and going to physical therapy 3 times a week if anyone want to ask ?'s or talk about transplant just message me (=

Hi Ashley and welcome! I'm sorry you had to have a transplant, but it's so great to hear that you're doing well and that you found it to be not as scary as you had been told! I just wanted to say that I think you'll be an AWESOME resource for some of our younger members who might be facing transplant. We also have a young woman who is 18 and has had both a double-lung and kidney transplant, so it might be fun for you two to connect.
