Ashtons surgery is over

Well everyone after a very long day yesterday ashton got out of surgery at about 2:30pm it was about a 6 hour surgery. So far everything is going great they took him off of the ventilator this afternoon.. They are expecting anywhere from 5-7 days before they hear bowel sounds then probably up to 7 days before they will try to feed him.. Although today he has passed some sort of mucous in his diaper nd the nurse thought that at his last check that she may have heard some faint bowel sounds but of course we wont get our hopes up just yet.. So far everything else is going good... Now its just a waiting game.. Thanks everyone for thinking and praying for us...

I remember when DS had his surgery and how excited we were the first time he pooped. We were so thrilled, and we called everyone we knew. 'Course then they had to get the enzymes figured out, so we weren't so thrilled when he'd poop while we were changing his diaper, over and over again. Wonderful news!

yea im not going to get to excited the surgery was yesterday and they are already getting mucous.. im actually kind of surprised... they didnt expect to hear or get anything until at least 4 days post op... so i dont know reall whether what he is passing is just reflexes or tht his bowels are actually working.. im going to call the NICU in a little bit to see if a different nurse is hearing these sounds also...

Christi, that is wonderful news. I'll pray that Asthon continues to be a little miracle baby and that they are actually bowel sounds that the nurses are hearing. I am so glad to hear it went well.
