We just got back from Australia courtesy of make a wish foundation and it was amazing. Conor was made to feel like a king. Thanks to make a wish both here and in Australia. They had evrything arranged for us and he had the best time, I have not seen him that happy for a long time. He met THE GREAT ONE (Batman ) and we went to Australia Zoo where we had a great day and even had elephant boogers all over us lol. To any Australians here, you have a beautiful country and the best people ( no worries )
We did have one bad experience but it was state side. Anyone traveling through Philadelphia airport beware. I followed TSA guidelines and had all the documentation both from the CF clinic and the Oley foundation but we were unfortunate to have a lot of trouble both with the checked luggage and the carry on luggage. I pulled out the letters when they told us we could not take ice packs for pulmozyme and Zyrtec syrup and the surynges to flush his G-Tube (no needles just the syringe) They had no interest in looking at the letters they showed no regard for Conor's privacy or dignity with regard to his G-Tube and the only way I could get them to bring a supervisor over was when I told them I was going to call make a wish and the media so they could explain why we would not be traveling. Thankfully the supervisor had learnt how to read and packed the bag for us and sent us on our way.
When we arrived in Sydney I found that the TSA had confiscated our cotton buds and left a note saying they had removed matches from our bags!! Maybe that is the problem not only can the TSA not read but they can not tell the difference between matches and surgical Q tips lol So for anyone travelling please pack everything in your carry on luggage at least then you can show them that Q tips are not incendiary devices
Other than that we were great once we left Philadelphia
