B/C and your cycle

I was on BCPs for 9 months and then discontinued them to ttc. My cycles went back to their own version of "normal" straight away. This consisted of 27-35 day cycles for two years. It turns out I have severe endomitriosis. We tried IUI for 3 cycles. During this time we "triggered" my ovulation with an HCG shot. I never saw a positive LH surge (the hormone detected in the ovulation predictor kits) during these 3 cycles. My clinic had us use the kits from day 11 forward. (it was a special over the counter expensive version from a specific pharmacy) If there was no surge on day 14 we came in for a follie check and an HCG shot. I never got pregnant from those cycles. We did IVF in Jan 2004 and I got pregnant.

I know this is more than you asked, but I can't say my cycles were ever "normal". Hope this helps.

Tara you live in So Cal right? Or is it north Cal? Do you mind me asking how much the IUI was? I was thinking that if my cycles dont go back to "normal" I may need to try other means. Did you get you IVF in Cal?

Yes, I am in N Cal near Sacramento. The IUI (nearly 4 years ago) cost $600 and my insurance covered half of that. So I had to pay $300 out of pocket. The IVF cost $15,000 3.5 years ago. (including all my meds) and insurance covered zero. I had to pay 100% out of pocket. I would highly recommend my clinic, but I know there are lots of good clincs all over the place. Where are you located?
