Bad allergies need help/advice.

HELP!! I live in an area where there is bad air pollution watches with mold counts that go above 4000. plus its still hot and humid. can anyone say that I am living in TEXAS??

Anyways.. i had major sinus headaches and last night i tried everything to think of to stop coughing and i am having trouble keeping things down.

i am doing all my treatments, sinus rinses, cough medicine, and CYPRO.

what else can i do to stop having allregy attacks? Is there anything i can eat so that i can keep it down?

Trying not to let this turn my life upside down and from going to the hospital.

What do you do to keep your allergies down?

Allergy shots (desensitization immuno-therapy tailored to what you are allergic to)
Singulair (pill that inhibits the leukotriene component of allergies)
Symbicort (broncho-dilator and inhaled steriod to lower airway inflammation)
Nasal steriod spray--I haven't had to do this since doing allergy shots
Nasal wash
Xoliar (allergy shot that inhibits your IgE reaction)--I don't do this one but others here do.

Hepa Air filter in your bedroom
no scented detergents and sprays

Or OKLAHOMA! Good grief it's bad here too. Off the charts bad!

You didn't mention an allergy medicine. What do you take? You may need a combination of allergy meds, since it sounds like yours are severe. Talk to your doc, because everyone is different.

Nasonex really helped Jordan when added to his Zyrtec. The coughing you are fighting is probably from post nasal drip (drainage going down the back of your throat) It's much worse when you lay down. I have to take double the normal dose of allergy meds for them to help me. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0">

I hope you find what works best for you.

I second everything in saveferris's blog. Also... if you have a bookcase in your bedroom, move it out. Bookcases and books harbor a lot of extra dust. Keep your ceiling fans clean also.

And yeah... Oklahoma is awful this year. Probably the worst year in a decade or more for allergies. I live in Tulsa.
