Balloons, balloons, I love balloons!!!!

For the last year or more Noah's PFTs have been not good, but no bad, or so they keep telling me. They hover between 76 and 85. Noah has developed a hing for balloons(he is also autistic) and I have had a hard time keeping him from blowing them anywhere and everywhere. I decided to give in to the mania and bought him a bag of latex balloons that I can't be near bc I'm allergic to latex...where was I...oh, yeah, well 2 weeks ago we made our quarterly trip to the pulm...and low and behold!!!! PFT's are up to 96!!!!! I didn't know a balloon could be a treatment tool!!!! We are so exited, so needless to say we keep balloons in our house(we do not have small children) and Noah is allowed to blow til his little heart's content...or until he drops it and has to get a fresh one!!!! Sorry so long, I'm just soooooo happy!!!

when my kids do the pfts they blow an imaginary balloon for reference on the screen.... so this makes perfect sense! great that you're finding something that works for your son. too bad you're allergic though... kinda risky for you?

That is TERRIFIC news!!! When we were in the hospital last month, I used the non-latex gloves to blow up as balloons for my daughter. Maybe you can get a box so that your son gets the benefit and you don't risk your own health.

I dont blow balloons up JUST for that reason. Maybe I should actually get some & work on it!

I think its awesome that something he is hooked on has been such a benefit to him!

Let him blow to his heart content!
